Graeme brought me into work today on the back of his motorcycle!!
After work Jan took me back to Dunfermline to meet Lesley, a resident of Dunfermline who is an avid follower of my adventures via the web. Lesley was amazed to hear that I was coming to her home town and “never having known anyone famous before” had asked to meet me. Never one to disappoint a fan, here’s a picture of me with Lesley (left) and her friend Alison at the Abbot’s House.

Jan had hoped to take me on a tour of Dunfermline but unfortunately it started to rain so she took me home and made me haggis neeps and tatties instead. That’s haggis, turnip and potato to you, but Jan didn’t have any turnip so we made do with swede instead. Well….it’s still a root vegetable!! The haggis Jan made consisted of ground beef, oatmeal, chopped onion, pepper and spices, and it certainly tasted very spicy, I can tell you!! Traditional haggis is usually made of lamb’s liver and cooked in a sheep’s stomach, but historically a typical Highland “wifey” would probably have used whatever she had available at the time.
Any chance of Graeme letting out the seams on this here kilt hen?
Jan’s included a Haggis recipe for anyone who wants to try it: Click here to take a look.
